Nope. Its foobar 100% running on Windows XP. I've tried linux countless tmes and have come back to windows for 2 reasons: Game support and still having the best audio player IMO. Anyways I wouldn't be caught dead with anything relying on kde.

Orc, a couple of friends of mine were talking about foobar the other day and it got my curiosity up. So, what is it that you like about foobar that you don't about other media players (outside of the game support that you already mentioned). I shift between Windows Media Player and Winamp and I don't really care for either....although I'm sure I have yet to really learn as much as I should about Winamp in order to make it better. I'm just looking for a media player that is a bit more than what I'm using now is all.

i switched to foobar a while ago too... and i think it's great because of the following reasons: - it has a built in database. okay, you might be thinking that it's stupid to even mention this since both winamp and windows media player have databases too, but it IS there. - built in masstagger. this is AWESOME when paired up with the database, since this allows you to, for instance, edit all of the information for a particular album at once. plus, there's also a freedb masstagger plugin that's also included, which allows you to tag your albums straight from a music database, which saves a lot of time in terms of manually editing each song title and whatnot. in addition, the masstagger allows you to rename multiple files based on the information stored in the MP3 files. - the interface is clean and very functional. it's not cluttered with UI eye candy, yet when paired with the columns UI plugin, it displays all sorts of information that you can't really display effectively at once on other media players. it's pretty much a no frills, no bullshit interface. - yes, there are a multitude of options, and yes, it CAN be confusing, but it's also very powerful. i've never seen any other media player that allows you to tweak all sorts of crap. but yeah, it might not be for everyone. i mostly use it because of the database and masstagger function, which keeps my music collection nice and clean.

Pretty much what Merc said. They have a diskwriter too, can rip cds right from the player and can convert formats too.

Is this the type of app that uses the song data to figure out what song it is? And for example, if I've got 50 songs I want tagged, how long would that take it?

Actually that's not my girlfriend, that's my actress. I just have a very cool job.
And Richard and I aren't dating either. We had a thing way back when, but fuck it, it was the 80's, he was a big star, I was 6, it was a crazy time for all of us.
