Funny thing is, Kai, is my list is of indicted Republicans....what's yours of?  People you don't like?

Unfortunately, we could probably make lists miles long of names, both Democrat and Republican, of politicians that are shady, corrupt, indicted, etc.  All this points to is that faith in any politician of either major party is probably misplaced, with a few exceptions, of course.

As far as I can tell, Libertarianism is our only hope.  What we have currently is not working.  BOTH Parties are contributing to the following:

1.) We are losing our Liberties (Patriot Act)
2.) We are accelerating our military presences around the world
3.) The government has continued to grow in size without hesitation for decades (As Government grows, Liberty decreases - Thomas Jefferson)
4.) More and more laws are being passed for strictly special interests.
5.) The national debt is still increasing and in fact, accelerating in size.
6.) We are spending more on completely useless subsidies than ever.  (Corn, Oil, etc)
7.) We're investing as a nation in a completely PHANTOM technology (ethanol) - which not only CANNOT help us, but hurts people, and hurts the environment.
8.) Social security is in a completely ridiculous state. (Every politician runs on how to fix this, and nothing of substance has been done.)
9.) We have laws going through office now days that are literally HUNDREDS of pages long and include dozens (hundreds?) of little laws within them, and so you can't help but vote for something bad. (Or vote against something good)
10.) The government is resisting medical research for purely religious reasons (Ok, this one is mainly Republicans, but there are exceptions both ways)

Which brings us to Libertarians.  It's alot harder to be corrupt if you're Libertarian (simply because your views would conflict with being corrupt), and secondly, its alot harder to get away with being corrupt as a Libertarian because it is alot easier to scrutinize votes, policies, etc if your benchmark is how it affects Liberty.  Also, Libertarians are the only party I see introducing REAL campaign finance reform, laws that would limit lobbyists, and laws that would introduce Instant Run-off Voting.  They are also the only party that is going reduce our military presences around the world.

Zeradul, you're wasting your time (unfortunately ) - everyone here has been properly brainwashed by the media/governament to think that a non dem/rep vote is a "wasted" vote.  Thus, the system never changes.

There's a reason that people think the way they do about our "two party system" - those people are not to blame...they've been brainwashed and can't see the strings that are tied to them.

As they educate themselves as to the realities that we live in, it'll start to open their eyes, but you can lead a horse to water...etc etc - they have to WANT change and WANT the truth before they'll entertain the thought of it.

It's far too easy to keep your head in the sand and go with the status quo...just be sure to return those block buster rentals on time guys...

Yes, yes, you two are the enlightened ones.  All the rest of us are walking around in darkness.  I sure hope a couple people who are absolutely sure of their superior intellect, cunning, and objectivity come along to waken us all from our slumber so that we can rise up and defeat the men in dark suits behind the drawn curtain before it's too late.

We're not naive to non-D/R candidates. It's simply not feasible to vote for them right now with Bush racking up ~50~% of the popular vote and Kerry ~49~%...

and THAT's is the mindset that needs to change - or we'll never SEE change - the dems and reps are bought and paid for by the exact special interest groups and corperations - you can find that out for yourself ( as they have to disclose their contributions received) if you want to start learning some truth.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to get back to my minions

NOPE, That mindset Does NOT need to change.  We just need THIS:
http://www.instantrunoff.com/

Please spend a minute and click that green link to watch the flash on how it works.  Instant runoff voting will make that 'mindset' a ridiculous idea to have, because now, you CAN pick your first pick, while still ensuring that the 'lesser of two evils' WILL get your vote.

this country is owned and operated by the richest 1% - as seen by our tax law, which is about 10 feet thick.
It's been like that for the last 100 years.
shit, the money you have in your wallet doesn't even belong to the U.S treasury, it belongs to the federal reserve, a privately owned and operated bank, of which, the IRS is the collection agency for.  Our government borrows from the federal reserve, you and I pay it back, plus intrest..but I digress.

The people we elect are merly figureheads.
Hell, the president AND the house AND the congress can't do SHIT until the NSA OK's it for "national security" - do you remember the last NSA elections?  Neither do I.  Do you know who sits on that board?  just a point of note...
