Hooray green party! Reflects poorly on Democrats since she was in their party first.

And Mark Foley proves that all republicans are pedophiles like himself?

C'mon Kai, we really have to get past this "us vs them" mentality.  Every issue needs to be judged for it's merits and nothing more.  Certainly not something as arbitrary as which party supports it.

You can't take a single crazy person and generalize that they are representative.

Exactly, I'd say that individual reflects poorly on the green party rather than the Green party looking poorly on Liberals and/or Democrats.

What a crock. Every time some republican screws up the whole lot of them gets associated with it. George Ryan is corrupt, therefore all Republicans are corrupt. Some Republicans are ultra-religious, therefore they are all zealots. Tit for tat ladies, tit for tat.

So perpetuating that silliness is okay because you think everyone else is doing it??  Let's definitely not try to overcome it, let's just run along with the herd and keep the generalizing and stereotyping alive!!!

I try my hardest to not judge an entire group of people based solely on the behavior of one member of that group.  That is simple thinking...lazy thinking.  It's like saying all teachers sexually abuse their students based on the few that do.  Or that all Catholic priests are pedophiles.  That kind of thinking has no place in any kind of political discourse...or any discourse for that matter, for it shows an unwillingness to judge a person based on their accomplishments, their words, their values.

Ok fine, from now on in these forums i want no one to associate anything someone does with the larger group or we will have ourselves a hangin'! Therefore, President Bush's actions should not reflect on Texas, the Republican party, or other religous people.

Let's get right to the core of this issue: blacks are crazy. Especially the female ones. If this doesn't put a negative light on the blacks and women in this country, I don't know what would.

Why am I making these statements, you may wonder. Well my friends, I'll tell you: in the past I've heard large groups of people condemn other groups of people for the actions of one person. Boom. Argue with THAT SHIT!

We agree. But everyone jumps down my throat when I say that her association with these parties reflects poorly on these parties. Did I say ALL GREEN PARTY MEMBERS AND DEMOCRATS ARE QUICK TO SAY STUPID UNBELIEVABLE SHIT!? No. I said it didn't look good for them. Sheesh.

Thank you, thank you. I will be running on a platform of change. Of course I appoint rue as my VP. I appoint Briman as my Secretary of Defense. DM will be just under him as the Secretary of Snapping Neks. Mnem shall be my Secretary of Education, as long as he promises not to make all kids in America libs. Dusty will be my Secretary of Technology and State. Joel shall be my ambassador to Canada and in charge of encouraging them to make their US statehood official.  kiss Zera will be my official Filibuster. Ruckus can be my butler. Wink And yes, I will say nucular even though I never really say it that way.  Grin

Partisanship is what is killing us here.  The media (for whatever reason) has stopped being the check and balance on the government it is SUPPOSED to be, and as a result they are going for ratings.  Sadly, its stories like these that get ratings, because the media has realized the advantages of playing the partisanship card.  When some kook like this lady, who has almost no significance gets a headline, it is too often used to justify the opposing side's views.  BUT IT IS NOT.  This does a great thing for ratings, but it hurts the political process in these ways:

1.) Ignores real stories that matter (replacing them with irrelevant partisan BS)
2.) Lets those who oppose the subject justify their views by pointing to the example as insane.
3.) Drives a FALSE wedge between opposing views by pissing both sides off at the other.  (Side 1: how could she be so insane, that party is insane!  Side 2: How could anyone think that lade is representative of my views, that's insane!)
4.) Mucks up the discussion (and future discussions) with minutia like this, instead of discussing something real.

Partisanship is killing us.  The media benefits from it, and that's why they unknowingly perpetuate it.  Of course, you get windbags like Limbaugh, Moore, O'Reilly, and (he's getting worse by the day) Olberman, who I believe ARE KNOWINGLY perpetuating it, because I suspect they think that the more they bash and demonize the other side, the more people they can convince to vote for their guy.  However, what I believe is instead happening is that they are speaking to their respective choirs, and worst of all, they are teaching their choirs that their side is nearly infallible because they don't honestly present the news.  Even if they are scrutinizing the other side fairly, I do not feel they are scrutinizing their OWN side fairly.

So the result of all this is that the majority of Americans (who ARE moderate) gets convinced (tricked?) that they are far more of one extreme than the other, and then when they discuss the issue they don't ultimately consider the alternative in a fair light, because the whole time they are thinking about those topics which the other side has been demonized on, (e.g. GASP, THEIR SIDE KILLS UNBORN BABIES..... GASP, THEIR SIDE GIVES TAX BREAKS TO THE UBER-RICH AT THE EXPENSE OF THE POOR!) and don't consider the real points being made.  This problem is doubled when each side ignores negative aspects of their own stances, and worse, tries to cover them up!

As soon as the real points aren't being considered, debate ceases, and you get political stagnation.  This is where we're at, and it is a huge problem.
