Hey I just set up a league for my College friends, and Yahoo finally has added the "Game Day Waiver Period" that we've been waiting for so long.
It puts all unclaimed free agents on waivers when their respective team takes the field, and all free agents come off waivers each Tuesday at midnight. Meaning, if LT goes down with an injury, everyone has until Tuesday night to decide if they want to claim his backup. Then, based on waiver rank, the highest waiver rank gets first pick of waivers. (instead of whomever heard about the injury first and frantically grabbed the backup.
This eliminates the need for frantic adds and drops all season while the games are going on. It also makes waiver ranks more relevant, and skillful. Note, when you "spend" your waiver rank, then you are bumped to the back of the waiver line, meaning, if your rank was 4th, and you make a move, afterwards your new waiver rank is 10 (or 12 depending on # of teams)
I think it makes the game more even and balanced, and gives everyone a fair shot at picking up those premier free agents.
So please vote! The poll runs for 10 days, and ends on August 30th.

Totally makes it much more fair. I think this is a great rule. Also, I like how it makes using your waiver rank a bit more strategic. Good idea, Zera.

Hey Mnem, you need to join up man! Also, thanks for the offer Spec, but xterm has said that he will play if we need one more. That said, Mnem, Joel, and Zeph have played all four years so far, and so I imagine that they will want to when they remember about fantasy this year. We've got 10 people so far, and we only have 2 more spots!

i voted no simply because if you have a good team that doesn't have a lot of injury problems you can abuse your rank (since you dont use it and will be high on the list) to prevent a lower team from trying to better themselves.
IE ruck is 6-0 and has no problems and is 2 on the waiver list, and mcnabb dies so vick becomes the starter. zera is 1-5 with a serious need for a QB but has had a lot of injury problems so he is very low on the waiver list. and ruck plays zera in wk 7. to preserve his win he picks up vick (using his high waiver ranking) to prevent zera from picking up a starting QB.
I dont like it. unbalances the system much like the scoring system you fuckbags use for RB.

But as it stands now, Briman, those people who are close to a computer or who have access to a computer can already do that. With the instant ability to pick up free agents anyone can grab a player as soon as an injury happens IF they are close to computer. So that gives an advantage to those people who don't have lives and spend all of their time in front of their computer. Not only that, but they can do this repeatedly, as long as they have moves to make.
With having it be controlled by the waiver ranking, it limits someone to abusing the system pretty much only once. This is because as soon as they use their pick they go down to the bottom of the rankings. With the people we have playing and the issues we've had in the past, I don't think the scenario that you proposed is going to present itself. By holding the free agents until Tuesday, it levels out the playing field much more.

With this approved we shoudl consider increasing the number of moves or removing the limit. I think there is no purpose in having both.

That is actually a very good point. Frantic moves on Sunday-Monday-Tuesday are the primary reason we lowered it from the default (80)
Is anyone still opposed to eliminating the total Moves Cap?
Last Year, only Mnem and Chew used all their moves. Noone else even came close.
I will suggest that now that WR's and RB's score the same, filling that "flex" position on every roster will be more challenging, and finding that #3 WR who is in for two games for an injured stud becomes a VERY viable option on everyone's starting roster, so I think there will be more moves to be had, and my logic on this as always has been, if a team can IMPROVE itself with players that noone else wanted, then everyone should be allowed to do that. I think creative moves are the highest form of skill in Fantasy, like Mnem finding Lance Moore before he was huge, nearly carried him to a championship.
Anyways, the other side of this is if someone has a main player or multiple studs injured, it can really consume a LOT of moves to fill that void, and I don't think someone who is already down should be limited in their pursuit of improving their team.
