Fantasy Football 2010

   While I'm admittedly not a sports fan, even if I put that aside I have a hard time reconciling "fantasy football." Not the activity itself, that I can pretty much understand; It's a way to get extra entertainment out of, and to feel more involved in, your sporting event of choice. Makes enough sense.

   Nah, the name itself is what gets me. "Fantasy football"... Is football, as it is now, really anyone's fantasy? Large sweaty men in lots of padding ramming into each other at high speeds? I mean, I can see it being on a fantasy level for a gay person, if that particular gay man is particularly unimaginative... But past that, it just doesn't seem to fit the terminology.

   The lingerie bowl came pretty close to being something worthy of the term, but even then, there was too much clothing and not enough kiddie-pools filled with jello. Plus they were still actually playing the game, which isn't nearly as whimsical as an all-girl orgy at the 50 yard line would have been. Especially with the jello.

Yea, it's a really dumb name, admittedly, and it's that dumb name that kept me from trying it for at least five years.  It took some serious convincing from QBert to get me to try it.

FF is like a specific type of gambling game.  Instead of betting on teams you bet on players, and you get to continually adjust your bets throughout the year.  But no word works that is as catchy as "Fantasy Football"
