My buddy at work who is a firefighter/paramedic as well is asking for anyone and everyone to support his dad''s new show airing this week on NBC. Its called "School Pride" Its basically like "Extreme Makeover Home Edition", but aimed at renewing broke down schools across the country. His pilot is Friday October 15 at 8pm ET. The host Tom Stroup is my friends dad and I wanna try to help it get a good start since most of you all know NBC's reputation of canceling shows. It revolves around education and im a strong supporter as all you should be as its our kids future. http://www.nbc.com/school-pride/Thanks! chew

So... They go to an American school where we teach our kids for shit, spend lots of money improving the physical building itself, and then they bring in Arnold Schwarzenegger to tell the kids that they should all be proud because of how beautiful the building that their teachers will be failing them in is?
I think the only way this'll support any kids' future is if the short burst of air-time some of them get leads to paying gigs in Saturday morning yogurt commercials. This supports the building-maintenance budgets of flailing institutions that we just so happen to dump our children into and hope that they turn out OK, not the kids themselves.
Kids are tough, and while they do need our help when it comes to their education, this is a demographic that loves playing in mud, and they go exploring in junkyards and abandoned buildings for fun the second they think the adults have stopped watching.
Seeing a rat in their homeroom isn't going to negatively effect their "learning experience" - If anything, it may improve their test scores in biology.
That said, I wish your friend's dad's show a long and prosperous run.
Sincerely; my hatred of crap formula television doesn't at all change my well-wishes. I fucking hate "Two and a Half Men," but I love Charlie Sheen, and I just don't want to see him backslide, you know? And giving kids a mold-free place to learn is certainly more important than keeping Charlie off of tranny hookers!
Its good work these people are doing, don't get me wrong. Its work well worth doing, and financing. It's just shit television. Empty calories.
So yeah. My sincere best wishes. I don't have a Nielsen box, or I'd turn the TV on to it for you.
