Thanks Ruck.

The machine is actually not that helpful. Apart from psychological benefits of seeing yourself go from low angle numbers to high, i don't see any benefits. It does not help to build strength and its effects of scar tissue formation are debatable. I'm sticking with it for now but probably will stop in a few weeks. My insurance paid 2K for me to have the machine at home for 3 months. I don't want that money to be spent for the machine to just sit in the corner Smiley

Crutches is the big unknown with me now. I tried them last week but my therapist said im not ready. The big issue is walking up and down the stairs. I just can't do that! I hope i will be able to make a transition from walker to walking without having to go though crutches.

I've been looking at some sex positions that do not require me to use my knees. There is only so much you can do Sad

I wish we had the option for stem cells to grow the broken bones. That would really help me out i think.  Nice link wargasm.

Hey Stas,

I happened to just jump on here and see how everyone is doing.  I am sorry to hear about your knee.  Hang in there buddy.  Like War said, just DO what you have to to get through the roughest of times.  I will tell you over the last several years firefighting and lifting patients as a paramedic, I already know I am in the works for a right shoulder and knee surgery in the near future.  I know this can't be fun for you.  You will pull through this.  Take care and keep us posted.

BTW, your still the biggest commie of all time =)

Nice link War. Pretty soon everything will be able to be reproduced with machines and DNA.

Stas, You'll get there man !!  Like I said don't rush it and relax . My 1 yr anniversary is Aug 5th and I have made leaps and bounds toward normalcy just like you will. But baby steps first. And to let you know, at first time seemed to crawl but now I can hardly remember the surgery, therapy or pain.

Now if I can just get over going all in with pocket aces, called by pockets 4's and beaten by a runner, runner, runner, runner flush. Oh the HUMANITY !

Thanks or your support Ruck. Keeping me thinking positive heh

One more question to you. What exercises did you do to strengthen your knee on your own? I know there are many exercises that can be done with help of another person, but on your own there isn't much.

Once last week i stood up by mistake on my leg and it was SO weak that it just gave out on me. I realize now hot strengthening is important. But there isn't much i can do on my own....

Stas, the atrophy willt ake a while to overcome. Don't sweat it dawg !!  I'm already calf raising and almost leg pressing pre-surgery weight. For now no exercise is needed. Just what you do a PT once you start. After the pain gets more manageable then you start pushing it a little. And I mean A LITTLE . Baby steps nikka  baby steps.

LOL WAR  ,   btw tell your mom don't quit her job cooking at IHOP just yet cause she really sucks at photography.

Ruck, i tend to agree with what you say but my surgeon is apparently very aggressive when it comes down to exercising and strengthening the leg as soon as possible after the surgery. He told me to increase my exercise load as much as i can take. He just didn't tell me what exercises i can do.

Next week i start outpatient therapy. I'm hoping it would help.

One more question if you don't mind. How far can you bend your knee? I'm at 80-82 degrees on my own and maybe 90 with some help. I have to be at 120 eventually.

Good job man. Sounds like you are moving fast but BEWARE. Quickness is not always the best option. Remember we are talking about your life and mobility here. So your doctor is sadistic ? Fuck him ! Take things at your own pace. Make sure the job is done right. Quality over quantity my fellow comrade !

Do people really get used to living with metal plates inside their body? I find it hard to believe that i will ever adjust to this. Hmmmmm

hahaha, i don't know honestly. Doctor is pushing me to walk. Physical therapists are saying to take it easy. My mom is totally freaked out. I just did it a few times today and was surprised that i could even do it.

The bad thing is that i most likely have to have another surgery in the next year or two. My recovery is going ok but not as good as hoped. Therefore there is a likely chance i may have to go though this again.  But the end result of that second surgery, if i opt for it, would be a big positive. At the very least i should get some improvement in the range and if i'm lucky, doctors will take out the metal plates. Those metal plates are driving me insane right now. I can't understand how people live with these things.
