Probably. Although I'm not a fan of having to go through that origins website to load the game up.

ahh yehh, I'll be on this one when it comes out on Tuesday, the beta was really buggy at least it was on the PS3, but it was still so much fun, it all looks so much prettier on the PC, goddamn! I want to share the new trailer but I guess it was flagged as inappropriate for the youngsters. http://www.youtube.com/verify_age?next_url=http%3A//www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DFRqfFfuVuNE
It looks really tasty afro

At first I was not going to upgrade but I decided I will and once I do I will pick it up.

I just need the 4 following things since I have the rest already.
ASUS Z68 deluxe mb
I7 2600k or 2700k cpu
12 gigs of DDR3 ( not sure which is the fastest, need to read some)
Video card, 1 for now

Any input to help me out?

BTW hi, I was locked out of my account for a while since I forgot my password Smiley

I recently built a computer similar to yours window Smiley

i got the following:
i7 2600K OC to 3.9GHz
ASUS P8Z68 V-PRO (I should have gone for Deluxe because of its more spacious layout. i regret this one...)
8GB of ram (ADATA 2000G). Will upgrade to 16 in the next month or so.
ATI 6950 Crossfire. I initially got just 1 card but upgraded a week later to Crossfire. But i'm not very happy with it since  Rage is not supporting it yet. Feel like i've spent money for nothing with the second card.
1GB 7200K raid. Will be getting 120GB SSD in November.
1000W PSU
27" Samsung monitor.

Overall i'm about 75% happy with it. i know this computer will last me for a few years. The only issues is the crossfire setup that is not paying off so far. I hope the new games will start supporting it soon.

« Reply #9 on: October 30, 2011, 09:16:11 pm »

It is seriously, the most impressive game since Quake1.

--------

Absolutely phenomenal.  Don't let EA's shitty reputation ruin this for you.  This is DICE from Sweden, and they just cranked it out of the stadium.

Seriously guys.  It makes RAGE look like Doom2

Also, seriously, how the mighty have fallen.  Rage is TERRIBLE, and hideous.  There's no visual difference between Doom3 and Rage.  If anything, rage looks WORSE.

I hate to say it, but its true.

--------

My GTS450 and Quad 2.6 play the game in NATIVE 1920 x 1440 resolution on ultra settings with no problems what so ever.  Remember, modern Geforce cards are 15 times as powerful as a PS3, and this game engine is designed to play on that POS.

And if I can rave about the game further.  So far, (one week in) there are no hacks (something that plagued BF2 in a BIG way) there are no cheats, there are no bugs, and the game doesn't crash, ever.

Seriously incredible.

I never thought it could be THIS good.  It's stupendous.

There is this annoying bug with binding the Q button to some other action... as in... you can't do it. I wonder if it's fixed? I have been using Q as left strafe since the mid 90's... there is no way I can play any other way LOL

Well, I think the "other thing" you're referencing is that Q is default for things like "offering ammo or health", but I think that is a verbal offering, I don't think it does anything.  I use Q for throwing a single grenade, and it hasn't caused me any problems.

I fixed the binding issue. Apparently the game isn't writing key bindings to the player profile file properly. So I manually added them in. Much much better  and works fine.

I am hopelessly addicted.

I'm not a big a fan of the small infantry levels.  I play on servers that are mostly the "air" maps.  Kharg, Firestorm, Canals and Caspian.

Oh, and ideally 600-1500 ticket servers as opposed to the default 300.  I have a pretty big group of friends that I play with.  It seems pretty much all my college gaming friends built systems for this game.  We played a lot of BF:Vietnam in college, and BF2 shortly thereafter.

So it's been 5 years since I played an FPS intensely.  BF3 is absolutely incredible.

Man, I cant wait for the four best BF2 maps coming out next week.  The trailer is amazing - http://www.battlefield.com/battlefield3/1/back-to-karkand?sourceid=3208&om_u=2411296430&om_i=_BO2C2eB8evqixD

That said, Dusty said he might be getting it soon.

The game is so intensely team oriented, that even two people working together can really turn the tide on pretty much any 64 player server.  4 People working together can absolutely dominate.

I almost want to join a clan, just so I can play in a non-public server match.  I can only imagine the complexity to the gameplay a 32 vs 32 match would present.

---------

It's great for the same reasons jailbreak was great.  I really think you'd all love it.

Jailbreak was great because of jails. And the buttons that let you out. Oh, and Jail Game!

Kidding about the last one.

That said, you've sold me Zera. I'll pick it up.

When I say air maps, I mean the big maps.  Glad the four new maps are ALL big maps, with Sharqi and Karkand probably closer to the size of Canals, or a "medium" map size.

Caspian Border is cool, but for it's size, at least on the PS3 the games usually end fairly quick. I really dig Kharg Island, Operation Firestorm and Damavand Peak, but Seine Crossing and OP Metro are kinda whack on Conquest, but that's just me, but damn I am looking forward to some Wake Island action. I agree with Zera, addiction at its finest evil

Boy, I have to say, I think playing this game on consoles would be like going to the Super Bowl, but then watching the game from your hotel.

Never before has the foliage, constantly changing damaged buildings, and sheer monstrous map size required more visual detail.

I am actually going to buy a 30" monitor for this reason.  2560 x 1600 is 4.1 Megapixel.  720p TV?  9 tenths of a megapixel.

You don't need a super powerful PC to play this at super high res.  Remember, modern $200 video cards are 23 times as powerful as the PS3.  So a $350 computer (16GBs ram is $59 on newegg) with $150 video card and the best monitor you can afford is all you need.

My $90 (from 2 years ago) Quad 2.6 processor doesn't even hit 60% utilization at 1920 x 1440
My $120 (1 year old) GTS450 gets a consistent 50+ FPS, sometimes dipping to 35 if I'm right next to something burning and a full screen of smoke.

Remember, this game was designed to be playable with the lowest settings and lowest resolution on wimpy little consoles from 5 years ago, so playing at monstrous resolutions mean I can see players clearly 4 times further away than the console videos I've watched on youtube, which I've watched to see footage of the new Wake Island.

If your time is worth more than $10 an hour, then don't waste your time playing on a console.

Not to mention the biggest reason not to play any FPS on consoles:
