Surprised nobody has made a topic here. I am sure this is a game a lot of us have been waiting for. What do yas think so far? I am impressed with the single player story mode, it's like all my favorite games put together. My system is playing it awesome and can imagine enough what will have to be done to play smoothly online.. like with all quake games. I've played the first couple Halo's and always thought they were kind of repetitive and grinding. Rage is basically like HL2+Just Cause+Just Cause+Twisted Metal+Quake+GTA+CODMW. I'm barely into the game but so far I love it and hope it opens up a bit, but the quests are what I love. ID made us wait a very long time for this game considering how many years ago they had their first trailer preview or whatever at QuakeCon.

Game was awesome. On my second playthrough now. I can't wait to get my hands on the editor for this. I hope it can be modded to allow for some sort of MP modes.

I haven't played MP yet or tried to. I hope this game will bring a variety of online modes, particularly CTF type modes that both involve and don't involve the vehicles. I can only imagine playing the racing modes like in singpleplayer but online against real opponents.. like that 1 where you race for the lights and get points. I think it will be wildly awesome to play against people. I don't think ID would have released this game without any intentions of expanding multiplayer-wise, I'm sure we will be presented with Downloadable Content for purchase, but I'm hoping some developers will make some free to download modes/mods.

I built my PC roughly 3 years ago and I am so glad it plays this game as smooth as it does, no skipping or lagging whatsoever. I built this PC around Crysis and don't regret it. The 8800 GTS 512 is supposedly the minimum required for Rage and I am thrilled with the graphics and have 0 complaints.

The game is fun but oh boy is it buggy. I've built my system in August and Rage is a mess on it. Even after installing the appropriate drivers i'm getting texture issues, crashes and everything else in between. I hope they fix it up soon. I'll be playing Metro 2033 until they do.

Stas you running Nvidia or ATI?

I'm running with a lowly nvidia 9600 gt and the pop-in has been drastically decreased with the latest patch.  9600gt is worse than an 8800 GTS.  And i only have a core2duo, 3 ghz mind you.

i played with cfg hacks before the patch and pop in was completely wiped out but my framerate went to shit.

so far it's been pretty fun, liking it better than borderlands so far.  I wouldn't go and say better than Just Cause 2 just yet.  I also really liked red faction guerrilla.  I know some of you are probably thinking i'm crazy but man i liked no more heroes 2.

and this game owns you

I have ATI 6950 in Crossfire. I hear crossfire or SLI are not even supported. Rage will use just one video card.

I played around with some config settings and the game got much better. Still, for $60 it should have worked out of the box.

I agree and i just got a new monitor 28" 1920x1200 and now the pixellation popin is once again to bad to play it.  sigh... (update switching to high textures actually fixed my problem LOL that would be the last setting that i would think that would fix that problem.)

here's hoping for some new good cheap videocards in the next month.  I'd love to see the 560ti drop to $100.

Unfortunately BFG Tech discontinued creating video cards as they had a lifetime warranty. They always did good on their returns/RMA's too. I never had problems with any games so far with my 8800 GTS 512, basically looks as good if not better than similar games I have played on PC and PS3. I just love my PC more, especially for shooters. I'd look on newegg for an 8800 GT or GTS 512, the prices are still a little high I believe, but best card for your bucks if you ask me. I think it was about $250.00+ when I purchased it 3 years ago, it has to of come down by now.

I'm digging it! PS3 isn't going to look like a PC but hey it's a pretty damn fun game. So who's found the Quake room? It's a pretty cool kick-back to the old days. Well I guess there's really two Quake rooms, the first is in the Wasted Garage and the second is in the Distillery. I haven't gotten very far, just blew up the road block after getting my buggy up and running, love decapping people with the wingsticks though, very cool afro

Graphics are sick for sure. I upgraded my drivers (9800 gtx+ 1gig) and it runs seamless except for a blurry line I get mid screen sometimes. Never any lag even in big fight scenes but that line does piss me off.

I was really disappointed with the game. The ending was terrible (it is in iD game though). I heard the MP was co-op and racing. I haven't tried either, but I was expecting CTF/ Deathmatch to be included. I suppose it can be added in when the SDK is released. The out door environment looks pretty good, but indoors I thought it was absolute shit. No dynamic lighting that I have noticed except from the shadow of vehicles (in the races too). Looks like most of the shadows were baked when building the maps. I thought the guns were great and the various types of ammo. Racing was pretty easy but wasn't too fond of the rocket arena style racing.

I noticed that I really didn't use any of the engineering stuff (game was pretty easy) and seemed to have an overly cluttered inventory. Story line wasn't pieced right, and the method of accepting quests was a bit awkward (couldn't really skip dialogue).

If they had DM/TDM/CTF from the get go I would have been really pleased with the game and would say it was worth the money. But the SP really isn't worth the $60 IMO.

I don't know how far I am into the game and don't want to be spoiled, but it's pretty much what I expected. Basically a Quake 5 without the Q name. Similar storylines, reminds me of Q2 with the enemy's shooting while half dead on the ground. I really didn't expect anything too out of the ordinary and am quite satisfied. I haven't tried MP, and most likely won't until there is a CTF/TDM/DM style... that leads me to the question will there be, and will it be made for free download as an install like most of all id's games... or is this new purchasable Downloadable Content BS going to take over?

oh yeh man, I kinda see this DLC thing taking over, companies can make a hell of a lot more even when the game has been out a year+ Those MW map packs are $15 bux a pop and now they got that Call of Duty: Elite service and that's $50 for the year and ya gotta think XBL has it's own cost too, so that adds up. I had the first MW and it was sick then came the next ones and to be honest, I don't like them at all anymore, I think that MAG was much, MUCH better than CoD MW 2 or Black Ops, I pretty much need a game where I only have objectives to deal with, running around and gunning alone isn't that engrossing. As for the MP of Rage, the racing is ok, you get new unlocks as you go up in rank, missiles, turrets, etc.. I only played it cause I wanted the two MP related trophies. I know the PS3 has co-op I don't know if that made it in the PC build though.

RAGE has Downloadable Content on the main menu so I am guessing they already have it in mind (PC version). I beat the game a short while after posting last night and the ending was nothing more than the obvious id's "hey let's finish this already!". The game is so short, so much meaningless content, missions, races, stuff you can bypass and it doesn't even matter.. they have to have intentions of releasing more stuff if it actually took them 4 years to design the world map and weapon systems.

What a shitty ending !!  No end boss  ?  WTF !  I liked the game itself except for the racing garbage.

Did anyone else here feel like they were playing halflife2 again , Just not as long and complex ?

Yes Ruck, the character models, especially the females looked exactly like HL2's.. clothing jeans, shirts, and faces. I liked the racing. And yes the ending was a joke. All in all the game was basically Q4 meshed with HL2, which is sad it took them so long to introduce graphics identical to HL2's from 2005. It took ID 6+ years to get their graphics to that? Okay, not to mention the Q4 enemy shields that they just ported into RAGE, as if it were something new... I believe Halo's enemies had similar defensive shields. Halo just always seemed like a girlish game as it was repetitive and plain dull graphics, I never played Halo after the 2nd one so I probably missed a lot.

i don't know if anyone has launched this now that the nvidia drivers aren't beta, but problems are gone on my 9600GT.  Conspiracy theory suggests that Nvidia was trying to sell some videocards.
