Well, if a tv show, especially a cartoon can run for 17 seasons strong, it must entertain enough people for networks to keep it going this long...

None of those you listed Merc have been around even remotely close to what the Simpsons have.   Its kinda like the cartoon version of Married with Children in a way.  Simpsons have been running since late 80's, thats pretty damn good.
