This would NOT apply to this year’s draft!!!
This is a new feature (to my knowledge) but essentially, you can just tell Yahoo to set the draft order to the REVERSE of the results of the previous year’s fantasy league.
So anyone finishing last this year would get the first pick, and the winner this year would get the last pick… note, the draft would STILL be a serpentine draft (like it always has been) BUT, this at least throws a bone, (and something to look forward to) to whomever has tremendous bad luck and finishes near the bottom. That said, it also makes things more interesting as everyone knows exactly what position they are drafting ahead of time, and livens things up a bit. “Will chew take Cadillac or Vick #1 this year???” Hehe…
Statistically the #1 overall pick is the most valuable, and the last pick position is least valuable. Now, there isn’t that much difference between the two, but there is a very real (but minor) statistical advantage to going first.
And before Spec gets angry and says that the #1 pick is the WORST pick to have (like he had last year) then I propose if someone wants to give up the #1 pick, then I say, let them take whichever pick they’d prefer. (which is now also easy to do with Yahoo) Also, I propose that new players just be inserted into the middle (around pick #6 or so?)
Again, I think this has almost no, or little bearing on the league itself, but would just make things a little more fun and interesting.
